AUSTIN (KXAN) — On Monday afternoon, Judge Carlos Barrera declared a mistrial in the misdemeanor deadly conduct case against Daniel Perry, who was pardoned in 2024 after a jury convicted him in 2023 of the murder of a protester on July 25, 2020.
The misdemeanor deadly conduct charge, while separate from the murder case, is also related to Perry’s alleged actions on the day of the protest. According to his indictment, he’s accused of putting people – a group of pedestrians – in serious danger by, among other things, driving into a group of people in the roadway.
